This department serves the communities of Akron, Anton, Cope, Lindon, Last Chance, Otis, and Platner, as well as Prewitt Reservoir. Our jurisdiction is quite large, covering 2,521 square miles.
Our Mission
The Mission of the Washington County Sheriff's Office is to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the Office as set forth by statute and to set the standards for law enforcement professionals dedicated to community oriented policing. Also, to provide firm, but fair service to Protect and to Serve the citizens with loyalty, integrity, professionalism, and pride.

| Sheriff Larry Kuntz, shown at left, is currently serving his second term in office. Sheriff Kuntz has served in law enforcement since 1977. Sheriff Kuntz joined this department in 1994. He served as Undersheriff for 8 years before successfully running for Sheriff in 2002. Sheriff Kuntz appointed Jon Stivers, shown at right, as Undersheriff in June of 2008. Stivers also has many years of experience in law enforcement, he began as a deputy for the Washington County Sheriff's Office in 1995. | |
